There are more than 500 golf courses for all ability levels spread throughout the state of North Carolina. While places like Pinehurst have traditionally been the focus of the public eye, Asheville is quietly establishing itself as North Carolina's new epicenter of golf. Drawn in part by the scenic landscapes, golf aficionados also enjoy the variety of challenges playfully offered by naturally mountainous and unpredictable terrain. With new courses under construction by BOTH Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, it won't be long before the word gets out about this new must-stop golf destination.
